At Project Skills Solutions, we believe that a successful career in the electrical industry begins with the right foundation—practical experience, expert guidance, and a strong commitment to safety. This year, we proudly welcomed two new apprentices into our 2025 Electrical Apprenticeship Programme in Essex and Basildon. Their induction, led by our Electrical Supervisor, Dannielle Madel, marked the start of an exciting journey.

A Dynamic Induction Experience

The first week focused on orientation, safety, and setting expectations. Under Dannielle’s expert supervision, the apprentices were introduced to the tools, techniques, and standards that define our work. Known for her precision and supportive teaching style, Dannielle ensured they felt confident and prepared for the road ahead.

Key highlights from the induction included:

  • Health and Safety Fundamentals: Emphasis on PPE protocols, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Tool Handling and Site Conduct: Training on operating essential equipment and navigating active job sites professionally.
  • Project Walkthroughs: Real-world context provided through guided tours of current installations and explanations of setup logic.
  • Team Integration: Opportunities to meet the wider team, ask questions, and engage with the work environment.

What to Expect from the Programme

Over the next four years, the apprentices will follow a structured and immersive pathway designed to prepare them for a long-term career in electrical work:

  • Hands-On Learning: Four days a week on-site, working alongside experienced electricians on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • College-Based Study: One day a week dedicated to classroom learning, covering electrical systems, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Portfolio Development: In the final year, they’ll compile a comprehensive portfolio showcasing their skills—from fault-finding to safe installations.
  • Mentorship: Ongoing support from senior electricians like Dannielle, ensuring steady progress and safe development.

In addition, following the first two months of intensive training, the supervisor takes the apprentices on-site every two to three months for the next two years to strengthen and reinforce the skills they have acquired throughout the initial training programme.

A key figure in championing this mission is our Electrical Installations Manager, Christine Edgeler, who plays a vital role in coordinating the apprenticeship programme, ensuring that each apprentice receives the right blend of technical training, mentorship, and support. From liaising with training providers and overseeing progress reviews to aligning on-site experiences with learning outcomes, her leadership ensures the programme runs smoothly and delivers real value.

Christine’s commitment to quality and development helps shape the structure of the programme—from initial induction to final portfolio completion—making sure apprentices are not only trained but truly prepared for the demands of the electrical industry.

Our apprenticeship programme reflects these values, blending technical training, safety education, and real-world experience. Many of our past apprentices have gone on to join our team full-time, continuing their professional journey with confidence and capability.
