It’s National Apprenticeship Week 7th – 14th February 2022
It’s National Apprenticeship Week, and to celebrate, we are spending some time with our apprentices ensuring that they feel valued, enjoying their apprenticeship and getting the most out of their time.
Project Skills Solutions have always placed value on our apprentices and giving people a chance to learn and grow under a team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals. All of our apprentices are treated as full-time employees the moment they set foot through the door and are encouraged to learn and take advantage of opportunities available to them.
Our Apprentices
We spoke to some of our apprentices regarding their opportunities and what they thought about their current situation. Below are a few quotes summarising their experiences and views.
‘I became an apprentice with Project Skills Solutions as I was interested in entering the electrical industry. Project Skills Solutions are a young, ambitious, family-run company and felt like a great place to start my career. They were very welcoming and provided me with opportunities to progress and develop my skills and interests’ – Laila, Electrical Apprentice for PSS Installations.
‘My day to day role as an electrical apprentice for Project Skills Solutions is busy! It usually begins with me making sure that the van is stocked up with materials for the jobs we have been issued for the day to be efficient with our time. My senior will then talk me through the tasks for the day and ask questions so that we feel prepared before arrival. This way, I can get the most out of the day and be a valuable part of the electrical team.‘ – Jesse, Electrical Apprentice.
Post apprenticeship with Project Skills Solutions
We currently offer all of our apprentices the opportunity to continue their employment with us post qualification and aim to continue supporting our colleagues.
We have Will, a past administration apprentice in the training team that finished his qualifications last year and is now an integral part of the business.
‘Working as an administration apprentice for Project Skills Solutions was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for me. With lots of support and encouragement, I learnt the skills needed to be an efficient office worker and a valued member of the training team. With learning a bunch of new skills daily, as well as earning an income, an apprenticeship was an excellent decision for me, and I would seriously recommend an apprenticeship to anyone considering alternative means of training’ – Will, Business Administrator for Project Skills Solutions
The future for apprentices at Project Skills Solutions
With a new apprentice joining the business last week, we continue to grow our workforce and introduce a mix of both traditional hires and apprentices to our teams. It’s all about providing opportunities, giving apprentices a great chance to learn and develop, and then preparing them for their future careers, whether with us at Project Skills Solutions or elsewhere.
A message from the Managing Director – Peter Ely
‘With apprentices playing a big part of Project Skills Solutions, we make sure that they are all given the best opportunity to succeed. We have a responsibility to ensure that all apprentices receive the training they need and deserve to become fully qualified and kickstart their career, and by introducing them to our work culture early, the stronger they will be as an employee upon completion of their apprenticeship and a valued member of their team. Not only do we aim to train these colleagues but also offer them a secure job with us at the end of their studies. This helps to take the pressure off them and let them fully focus on being the best that they can be. Thank you to all of our current apprentices and their mentors for the value that they bring Project Skills Solutions as we continue to adapt our apprenticeship programme’ – Peter Ely, Managing Director of Project Skills Solutions/ PSS Installations.
